Just off the southern coast of the main island, Sentosa is Singapore's dedicated leisure destination — a compact island crammed with attractions, beaches and resorts, all easily reached from the city.
Getting there
You can reach Sentosa by the Sentosa Express monorail from VivoCity mall, by cable car for the scenic route, on foot via the boardwalk, or by road. Once on the island, internal transport including buses and the monorail helps you move between zones.
The big attractions
- Universal Studios Singapore — the region's Hollywood-themed theme park
- S.E.A. Aquarium — one of the largest aquariums in the world
- Adventure Cove Waterpark — slides, a lazy river and snorkelling
- Skyline Luge, zip lines and other outdoor adventure activities
Beaches and nature
Sentosa's beaches — such as Siloso, Palawan and Tanjong — are man-made but pleasant, lined with beach clubs and eateries. The island also has coastal walks and viewpoints, including the southernmost point of continental Asia at Palawan Beach.
Planning tips
Sentosa can easily fill a full day or more. There is an island admission element depending on how you arrive, and popular attractions like Universal Studios are best booked ahead. It works well as a family day out or a weekend break combined with the resorts.
